If you would like to have a garden filled with colourful flowers but also want something low maintenance, then perennials are what you are looking for. The best part about perennials is that they keep multiplying with time, giving you more flowers as the years go by.

Location is very important when you consider where to plant your perennials as most thrive in bright sunshine but a few need shade. Therefore make sure you check the tag on the plant before deciding where to plant it.

Another factor to consider when buying your perennials is which plants you would like to have, how they would suit your garden and the type of landscape you have in mind. Perennials live a long life so make sure you choose the flowers you would love to wake up to on a daily basis.

Once your garden design has been decided, make sure your soil is ready for the plants by checking that it has good drainage and removing any weeds that might compete with the perennials for water and nutrients.

The best time to plant perennials would be in springtime. Once planted perennials basically look after themselves. They need very little attention and thrive with minimum care, giving you a garden filled with colour and beauty.

After the umpteenth dead rosebush in your garden there comes a time when one must admit that they do not possess this so called ‘green thumb’ that has been the success of many. Do not be disheartened. Though a vast lawn is immensely attractive, it is important to not get carried away and reduce it so that it is of a maintainable size. Easy maintenance plants are the answer to landscaping problems faced by many in the field. In order to ensure that your garden lives even when you forget to weed a plant here or water one there, it is important to choose plants that can survive and look good for at least two or more seasons. Sprucing up your lawn is simple if done in an effective manner.

There are many beautiful yet easy maintenance plants that can be grown in various soils and consist of many varieties. Daylilies are an ideal example. They bloom quickly and survive cold winters, hot summers and are pest resistant. Rhododendrons are beautiful against the backdrop of other plants but can also be a site for sore eyes on their own as the plant boast pink, white, yellow and lavender blossoms. They are easy to grow and are very hardy. Peonies on the other hand are not only colorful but emit an intense sugary fragrance while sprouting brilliant crimson, yellow or pink blossoms. They are best grown in shallow easy-to-spade holes. The fern is the crème of the crop when it comes to easy maintenance plants and is ideal for groundcover and homeowners who have little time to maintain their gardens.

Aphids are without a doubt the biggest bane to a healthy garden. They come in droves and before you know it, your once lush, thriving garden suddenly starts to crumble. Fear not, however, for regardless of whether you have a small garden or large garden, here are a few handy tips on how to fight these insects and come out of the battle a victor.

Routine checks

To make sure your garden is at its prime, check plants regularly for signs of an aphid infestation such as young leaves turning yellow or deposits of honeydew or sooty mold. Also make sure to check under the leaves; if any aphids are present they are most likely to be found there.

Organic warfare

If your garden is under the attack of aphids, the easiest way to fight back is organically. There are a wide range of organic sprays and traps that can be bought over the counter to deal with the infestation. Though easier, these methods are more expensive than the biological means of combating the insects.

Biological Warfare

Brightly colored flowers, along with dill, fennel, mint, yarrow, clover and dandelions attract ladybugs and lacewings, both which prey on aphids. So by creating an environment that attracts them to your garden, you are ensuring that you have soldiers that will guard your garden against an aphid infestation.

These methods should ensure that your garden thrives and is pest free. Only use pesticides as a final option, for even though pesticides would get rid of the aphids it would also damage your plants and kill the insects which are beneficial to your garden.

Are you a nature lover, dreaming of turning your front-yard into fine natural green decorated with colorful Hibiscus? However, are the dry rocks concentrated throughout the soil keeping you from achieving what you love? No more should you worry, for even the driest, harshest rocky grounds can be turned into that green paradise.

Of course, it requires a bit of commitment and close inspection, but the right fertilizer and adequate amounts of water would do the job. The secret behind rock gardening (or gardening in any type of less-fertile/ in-fertile soil) is the ability to use the minimum resources in such a way that it’d give maximum output. It will thus be worth the effort, plus, cost effective. For instance matching the colors – mixing the golden-green of Aucuba with the bright green and red of Amaranthus and painting rows of rocks in healthy brown, would simply do the trick. However, you have to be keen enough to handle the whole scenario of turning dead rocks to eye-catching shades.

You shouldn’t forget to be enthusiastic about your garden, wanting to improve it continually. Make sure you think over what exactly you want and don’t hesitate to get professional advice to initiate them. After al it is your front-yard and you sure want to be the most creative and sensible rock gardener.

Shrubs are an asset to any landscape garden. They add the extra touch that is required to give a garden that final look and bring beauty, shade and fragrance to your landscape. Shrubs are a great way of creating enclosed corners in your landscape, and taller shrubs make good screens for the perimeter of your property.

Different shrubs flower during different seasons, so it would be a good idea to plant a few for each season so that you can have flowers all year round. Flowering shrubs need to be trimmed within a month after they finish flowering, or else there is a risk that you may trimming away the next bloom of flowers, however, dead branches can be trimmed away at any given time. A tip to check if the branch is alive is to scrape it with a knife. If the layer beneath is brown or green it is healthy. If it is black or brown then it is dead and needs to be removed.

Remember to always wear gloves when trimming shrubs as some shrubs tend to be thorny. If you are unsure of how or when to trim your shrubs it would be best to contact a landscaper for advice before continuing.

Even though shrubs may require trimming and taking care of, many a gardener has found them worth the effort as shrubs have a way of completing a garden and giving it a well designed air to it.

The house is built, the interior décor is sorted, and all that you thought was necessary for the house to be complete is over, until you look out your window to see a bare strip of land. Whatever we may think, the way a garden looks will definitely have some impact on the way your home looks. And what make your garden look as good (or bad in some cases) are the plants used when landscaping.

Landscaping your garden is an investment that may seem too much, but is definitely worth making. After all there is nothing like having a garden with a riot of colours that not only look good but also make the garden an enjoyable place to be in. Choosing the proper landscaping plants is something that needs a lot of thought. For one, you have to make sure that you keep in mind that the plants you plant today are what are going to grow into huge trees or shrubs, and so space is a definite point to consider when deciding on which landscaping plats to use. Another thing to look out for is the weather in your area, as when that is considered you know what kind of plants will thrive in your garden, and which are just not suitable for you.

Have a look at www.koalanativeplants.com.au for some great ideas on possible landscaping plant options.

Are you bored trying to go through all the therapies just to get relaxed and have your blood circulation done properly? Well, why haven’t you considered gardening all this time? It is fun, it is lovely and it is so much relaxing.

Gardeners all around the world are people with a relaxed and a calming mind .No! This is not an exaggeration. Truth is in science it is proven that having a hobby which involves at least a little bit of nature has more tendencies to make you more loving and kind than others.

The cost factor would be one major issue for most people to put behind their garden ideas. But hey….do not come to that conclusion yet. It should not always be emptying your pocket as per your neighbor. Get to contact some of the well reputed garden designers and see for yourself. I always believed that proper planning will make both your mind and the pocket happy. Give it a try.

It is not all about the kind of flowers you have in the garden, or maybe the design of your pool or pound, but rather the landscape design. Landscape design is considered to be one of the most important aspects in gardening. Give it some beauty and space to suit your house.

Don’t take just my advice pals, ask from the experts and get warmed with gardening now. You are assured with plus factors only as consequences’.

As a landscaper, it is my duty to address all possible niches and interests of my clients. Some ideas may sound too childish for you, but trust me! When the plan gets materialized, you will see heaven right before your eyes. Butterfly gardening is one such magical idea that can turn your garden in to a fairy land that keeps your children busy during hot summer afternoons.

It is known that butterflies are often attracted to Native plants. The positive thing about native plants is that they could be grouped together to beautify your garden while cutting down on maintenance and preserving water. However, the location you are at and the climate in the area are the top most important things to consider when selecting appropriate plants for your butterfly garden. If you live in a tropical climate, adding flowery plants will do the trick to attract butterflies as well as to add serenity to the garden view. The next step would be to plan ahead about how you will use insecticides, as butterflies will not surely become impressed with the nasty smell and the mortal taste. So organic gardening may be one of the best options available for you.

Additionally, inviting birds to reside in your garden and facilitating bird baths is a great way to attract visitors to your garden. So sit down with your landscaper and discuss the nitty-gritty’s to start painting that picture perfect view, right at your back yard. Oh talking about painting, if you are really in to it – why not get your designer to fix an eisel for you so you too have something to do outdoors during those hot summer days?
