After the umpteenth dead rosebush in your garden there comes a time when one must admit that they do not possess this so called ‘green thumb’ that has been the success of many. Do not be disheartened. Though a vast lawn is immensely attractive, it is important to not get carried away and reduce it so that it is of a maintainable size. Easy maintenance plants are the answer to landscaping problems faced by many in the field. In order to ensure that your garden lives even when you forget to weed a plant here or water one there, it is important to choose plants that can survive and look good for at least two or more seasons. Sprucing up your lawn is simple if done in an effective manner.

There are many beautiful yet easy maintenance plants that can be grown in various soils and consist of many varieties. Daylilies are an ideal example. They bloom quickly and survive cold winters, hot summers and are pest resistant. Rhododendrons are beautiful against the backdrop of other plants but can also be a site for sore eyes on their own as the plant boast pink, white, yellow and lavender blossoms. They are easy to grow and are very hardy. Peonies on the other hand are not only colorful but emit an intense sugary fragrance while sprouting brilliant crimson, yellow or pink blossoms. They are best grown in shallow easy-to-spade holes. The fern is the crème of the crop when it comes to easy maintenance plants and is ideal for groundcover and homeowners who have little time to maintain their gardens.

Are you a nature lover, dreaming of turning your front-yard into fine natural green decorated with colorful Hibiscus? However, are the dry rocks concentrated throughout the soil keeping you from achieving what you love? No more should you worry, for even the driest, harshest rocky grounds can be turned into that green paradise.

Of course, it requires a bit of commitment and close inspection, but the right fertilizer and adequate amounts of water would do the job. The secret behind rock gardening (or gardening in any type of less-fertile/ in-fertile soil) is the ability to use the minimum resources in such a way that it’d give maximum output. It will thus be worth the effort, plus, cost effective. For instance matching the colors – mixing the golden-green of Aucuba with the bright green and red of Amaranthus and painting rows of rocks in healthy brown, would simply do the trick. However, you have to be keen enough to handle the whole scenario of turning dead rocks to eye-catching shades.

You shouldn’t forget to be enthusiastic about your garden, wanting to improve it continually. Make sure you think over what exactly you want and don’t hesitate to get professional advice to initiate them. After al it is your front-yard and you sure want to be the most creative and sensible rock gardener.

Shrubs are an asset to any landscape garden. They add the extra touch that is required to give a garden that final look and bring beauty, shade and fragrance to your landscape. Shrubs are a great way of creating enclosed corners in your landscape, and taller shrubs make good screens for the perimeter of your property.

Different shrubs flower during different seasons, so it would be a good idea to plant a few for each season so that you can have flowers all year round. Flowering shrubs need to be trimmed within a month after they finish flowering, or else there is a risk that you may trimming away the next bloom of flowers, however, dead branches can be trimmed away at any given time. A tip to check if the branch is alive is to scrape it with a knife. If the layer beneath is brown or green it is healthy. If it is black or brown then it is dead and needs to be removed.

Remember to always wear gloves when trimming shrubs as some shrubs tend to be thorny. If you are unsure of how or when to trim your shrubs it would be best to contact a landscaper for advice before continuing.

Even though shrubs may require trimming and taking care of, many a gardener has found them worth the effort as shrubs have a way of completing a garden and giving it a well designed air to it.

The house is built, the interior décor is sorted, and all that you thought was necessary for the house to be complete is over, until you look out your window to see a bare strip of land. Whatever we may think, the way a garden looks will definitely have some impact on the way your home looks. And what make your garden look as good (or bad in some cases) are the plants used when landscaping.

Landscaping your garden is an investment that may seem too much, but is definitely worth making. After all there is nothing like having a garden with a riot of colours that not only look good but also make the garden an enjoyable place to be in. Choosing the proper landscaping plants is something that needs a lot of thought. For one, you have to make sure that you keep in mind that the plants you plant today are what are going to grow into huge trees or shrubs, and so space is a definite point to consider when deciding on which landscaping plats to use. Another thing to look out for is the weather in your area, as when that is considered you know what kind of plants will thrive in your garden, and which are just not suitable for you.

Have a look at www.koalanativeplants.com.au for some great ideas on possible landscaping plant options.
